Seven years of Bryn Bryn: Mother E
I am celebrating seven years of Bryn Bryn by sharing about one project I worked on each year from 2016 until now. This gives me an opportunity to shout out a few of my wonderful clients and look back over my creative journey so far. My 2016 landmark was brand management for the wonderful My House Events (you can read about it here).
2017 is Mother E! This essential oils company and certified B Corp, based in Utah and tended so lovingly by Brenda Jensen, is no longer kicking but fans will never forget the smell of Earth::Grounding and True Joy. Fortunately I stockpiled a bunch and still enjoy these scents daily (they smell like a pine forest and a creamsicle, respectively).
Working with Mother E and directly with Brenda as a brand consultant was a big deal for my career. My role was to keep the Mother E brand rooted across platforms in the story of the healing power of nature. I honed the brand’s voice, writing brand manifestos and copy for our site, email funnels and beyond. A favorite project was developing and writing the script for a video campaign coloring in the personality of four signature collections of essential oils. This was especially fun because I got to bring on my brilliant friends Hari Khalsa and Ivana Bosek to produce and film, respectively. (I also kicked off my reluctant career modeling for clients by starring in one of the videos, still from the shoot below). Brenda’s daughter and my dear friend, Haley Jensen, owned social media and photography for Mother E and we collaborated on a variety of concepts for the brand’s social campaigns, including traveling to Salt Lake to support a brand launch with a focus on influencer marketing.
This gig opened my eyes to the power of building client rapport–and the kinds of creative magic that can be made when the resources are available. Mother E had both social and environmental responsibility at its core and I was lucky to witness firsthand the dedication required to stay accountable to that mission (let alone get the B Corp Certification!). Flash forward to 2023 and I continue to partner with mission-driven brands, helping founders and directors lead with the unique texture of their brand story. I’m grateful to Brenda for giving me the opportunity and trusting my vision in the earlier days of my career.
Next up–2018! A lifetime ago, at least.
